- fresh watermelon (sweet, juicy, and not pre-cut) eaten outside on the porch
- music on the deck with friends and family (take a moment and dance if you want)
- kids outside way past their bedtimes hunting for fireflies and frogs (listen for the laughter and squeals)
- the smell of the pool (on hair, towels, skin)
- sunshine warmth (when you step outside right into it)
- windows down in the car (people watching, breeze-catching)
- the smell of hamburgers on the grill (yours or the neighbor's- are we invited?!)
- corn on the cob striped with butter
- popsicles on the porch and the colored smiles of the kids (and adults) who eat them (especially sweet, cold, melting blue and red)
- road trips (see previous post)
- no alarms in the morning (soft pillows, clean sheets, open windows, dropped book on floor)
- frozen drinks (any color, any flavor)
- front porches (rocking chairs help)
- memories of when you were a kid and summers lasted forever
- flip flops or even better, bare feet
- ocean waves and periwinkles (dig in the surf for these colorful, live creature-shells)
- spontaneity (give it a try!)
- ponytails
- slowing down and sipping instead of gulping (no straw)
- exploring (you might even abandon GPS)
